Lakewood, California Speed Traps
Candlewood & Hayter
Police car either on north or south side of Candlewood
Candlewood and Palos Verde
It is NOT off of Del Amo and Polos Verde (I live just up the street) There is no library (That’s on Clark and Del Amo, (3 Traffic lights down). The church is nearer Woodruff and the cops wait there. Their favorite is to wait 20 -25 feet back on Candlewood / Palos Verde intersection facing east (west dead ends a few hundred feet down) to catch the the unsuspecting south bound traffic. They look for California (rolling) stops. I’ve been nailed there three times. Once for stopping too far back from the stop line and creeping forward. That’s their favorite spot next to the one across the street from the church. They get you moving to and from Woodruff and Palos Verde.
Lakewood Boulevard near South Street
If you’re going south on Lakewood Blvd toward South St (between Hedda St. & Andy St.), there is an officer usually seating there waiting for you. There is a street divider that separates Lakewood and the street that runs in front of the houses on the west side of Lakewood. The officer will be facing north (toward you)and if you’re speeding, by the time you see him it’s too late.
Del Amo Boulevard near Palo Verde Avenue
On Del Amo East of Palo Verde between nursery and library. In back lot of church 1 or more are parked in far back lot and can get you through the church walkway.
Downey Avenue near South Street
Between Artesia and South, motorcycle cops regularly radar the traffic going Southbound on Downey. The posted limit is 35 but traffic is regularly going 40 or higher. The motorcycle cops work in pairs or threes with one using the radar gun and the others issuing tickets.
