Avenue E from Sierra Hwy to 120th Street East.

Lancaster, CaliforniaJun 25, 20130 Comments

This entire road, along with 120th East, is patrolled by CHP for traffic travelling to and from the local military base. The road is long and straight and the prima facie speed limit is 55mph. (https://www.dmv.ca.gov/pubs/vctop/d11/vc22352.htm) Goverment employees and military who commute are easy pickings, and local LEOs know that they have to pay up to keep their records clean. Slow down here and discontinue the transfer of wealth from your pocketbook to the local judicial branch.

School zone; behind Piute heading West to Division. Cop sits northside of H-8 and givse tickets for speeding in a school zone. Doesn’t matter what time of day. I got one at 5:00 in the evening when there wasn’t anybody present!

Challenger Way (10th St East) and Avenue L

Lancaster, CaliforniaOct 03, 20100 Comments

Not a speed trap, but a ticket trap. On Challenger Way going south, the right lane merges onto Avenue L at the signal. Some people stop at a red light, but most just merge, as Avenue L going west is a single lane until it crosses Challenger Way. Officers are writing tickets to those that don’t stop for the red light, but the signage leads you to believe it is a merge lane and does not require you to stop. The people that stop get honked at by those behind them, it is an accident waiting to happen, plus the tickets are very expensive for running a red light.
