Rhode Island 165
Shortly after the state line going from CT. into RI near Beach Pond, State troopers catch drivers on a long stretch of fairly remote secondary road. The speed limits vary from 30-45 or so but it is easy to push it up as there isn’t much on that road. The troopers will get you coming from an oncoming direction and then turn around and stop you. By the time you see them coming at you, it’s too late. This tactic seems to be relatively common in RI.
Mail Road near Before the river, Backed into the woods.
On Mail Road, right after the turf farms, before the River, State Police back into the wooded area spots. There is a hill coming down before the farm, and the State Police are there between 8-9:30 am. It is 25 miles per hour posted, but you would have to ride your brake to do that. The speed of the road is higher. They are doing radar and writing tickets.
State Route 165
Coming down the large hill just before heading into CT about 3 miles from Beach Pond the RI State police sit on the opposite side of the road facing the downhill traffic panning all traffic coming down the steep hill with KA band radar. It’s a very sneeky trap as the hill is very very steep and the speed limit is 45MPH. Just coasting down the hill you could probably hits speeds of 60-65MPG.
