HWY 301 North (City Limits – Orangeburg)

Orangeburg, South CarolinaMar 19, 20140 Comments

Once you pass Henry’s Travel Plaza on the right, up ahead will be a curve. Occasionally, on the other side of that curve will be a Public Safety officer sitting in the median catching speeders heading into Orangeburg’s business district. He normally runs front constant-on 35.5 KA radar. This isn’t their favorite spot, but I have seen an officer there many times before.

Chestnut St. (near hwy 21)

Orangeburg, South CarolinaMar 01, 20140 Comments

Public Safety officer will sit in the median on Chestnut St. just passed the intersection of hwy 21. The vehicle is always a marked unit with no lightbar. He’s mainly there at night with no headlights on. 95% of the time he’s running constant-on 35.5 KA (front) radar. He rarely uses instant-on, but I have encountered him using it before, so be careful.

From 301 to Brentwood Drive leads to Old Elloree Road. Upon entering Brentwood
Drive, the 35mph signed is posted but after leaving the residential area no sign at all is in place driving to Old Elloree Road. The posted 45mph can only be seen if you enter Brentwood from Old Elloree Road.

HWY 178/North Road

Orangeburg, South CarolinaJun 26, 20130 Comments

State Trooper’s have been increasing their patrol on this highway as of lately. Running both instant-on and constant-on 35.5 KA radar. Use extreme caution when driving on highway 178.

HWY 601 – Claflin University

Orangeburg, South CarolinaMay 29, 20130 Comments

Once you’re on HWY 601, heading northeast towards the Regional Medical Center, Orangeburg-Calhoun Technical College, or Interstate 26, you’re going to first pass South Carolina State University, then Claflin University; both on the right hand side. You will come up onto a hill and you won’t be able to see the other side. There has been an increasing number of Public Safety officers sitting in the parking lot of a small brick apartment complex on the left side facing towards oncoming traffic just on the other side of that hill. They run constant-on 35.5 KA radar. Speed limit here is 30 and it’s very easy to go well beyond that, so be careful in this area.
