US Highway 76/378 near SC 261 to Wateree River

Stateburg, South CarolinaFeb 09, 20080 Comments

76/378 east & west bound are frequently used by "saturation teams" of law enforcement. Some days it’s State Troopers & others it’s Sheriff’s Dept. Occasionally, both. Often, one car is the spotter & another is the chaser. The spotter is positioned in a cut-across (an access road crossing the median connecting east & west sides) The whole area is heavily wooded including the median. By the time you’re able to see the police car, it’s too late, he’s got you. Local truckers say the bears are hiding in the "hole in the wall". There is a heavy volume of traffic all day, but especially mornings & afternoons, due to commuters working in Columbia. It is a very productive hunting ground. Beware.
