Dickson, Tennessee Speed Traps

As you approach the city from I-40, the speed changes from ~ 50-55 to 35. But the sign is high on a pole turned 45 degrees away from Hwy 46. Can not be seen at night. I was looking very hard as I traveled through. Even during daylight I had to stop and look around to find it. It is best ably seen as you come over the hill just b4 (during the day), but you have to know where it is to notice it.

There is a cut-through where the ‘drug task-force’ usually hangs out. There will often be a state trooper there in the mornings. This is where three-lanes become two so people are often adjusting their speed and attempting to merge safely, not looking out for cops. The shape of the land means the trooper is concealed until the last second.

Be careful, the fines are *high* and Dickson doesn’t seem to like traffic school.

This is a thinly disguised speed trap but it is really the 21st judicial drug task force using any kind of excuse to stop you. A tuck past me and when the truck got in front of me I was traveling to close to the truck.

This section of interstate highway is heavily patrolled through this county. Typically, up to two miles west of mile marker 169 and east up to I-840. I travel this highway heavily and have observed THP issuing citations about 15% of the times I drive through this section of I-40.

The officers will wait around bends in the road and catch anyone they can.
