Gallaway, Tennessee Speed Traps

NEW off-ramp. Galloway and Hickory Withe / Arlington – Galloway Police Unit out of Jurisdiction, South of I-40/ Orr Road. Their Jurisdiction is the North Side of I-40. The officer was South of Orr Road by a good distance about 1,000 yard or more blacked out. I never entered Galloway. Called Galloway PD to report him to a Captain or Watch Commander. No answer, at all! Running a speed trap and moving violation trap (mine was one bulb out in my one headlight). He wrote me a full M.V. and fine, usually a fix-it. To add insult to injuy the vehicle I was driving was registered to retired law enforcement. He wrote a write in violation with out not of the code violated. AND! He got the description of the car wrong. Did not even copy it right off of the registration. Wrong color, wrong doors, wrong description. All reasons to get this rediculous ticket kicked, by law! Let’s see if the Judge follows the law. Under TN headlight violations this is not reportable to DMV as an infraction.

Highway runs through Galloway, there is no reason for the trap to be all the way out of the area where there are homes. when your get past the homes there is literally nothing there but woods, and sticks. No need to drive so slow.

I was pulled over for speeding on Hwy 70 outside of Gallaway Tn. I saw the one sign in the town of Gallaway for 45mph which I observed. I was 5 to 6 miles out of Gallaway when I was pulled over for speeding. The officer told me the speed limit was 45 mph. I ask where the sign was. He did not answer my question. I was informed that my speed was 55 mph in a 45 mph limit. I was almost to the other the town when I was pulled over. There is no 45 speed limit sign except when you enter Gallaway. The ticket cost 160 dollars. Be careful when passing through…Or not..they can pick and choose whom they ticket.

Gallaway Police hide in the fields and at Winstead Turf Farm early a.m. and evening. They just made this a 50mph zone in order to generate money for the crummy town. They will pull you over for going 1 mile over limit.

Don’t go 1 mile over the posted limit on the hwy. Be traveling at that speed when you reach the sign. If you turn onto 196 the limit is 30 within the city limits. They have more police per populace than any other town in Tennesse.
