County Trunk Rt 72 near Interstate 75

Loudon, TennesseeJan 11, 20080 Comments

The trap is set up between the interstate and town limits (about 5 miles east of the interstate). There is one congested area at the junction with Rt 11 but the rest of the area is a wide 2 lane with good visibility and plenty of escape room on the berm. Posted limit is 45 andit is unrealistically low wiith the exception of the small area of congestion.

There are Always speed traps on HWY 72, from I-75 all the way to downtown Loudon, especially in the afternoon. The speed limit was recently changed to 45 and they knock themselves out enforcing it. They patrol this area heavily.

There is a speed trap at HWY 11 North, just across the new river bridge, the cops try to catch people doing more than 30 on the bridge and down a hill coming South into the city. The Trap is there usually between 5 am and 7am and sometimes in the afternoon "drive home from work" hours.

There is yet another speed trap on HWY 72 at Steekee Street to Grove Street, this can be all hours of the day, the cops usually sit near the middle school or they patrol it and the rest of HWY 72 very, very heavily.

On I-75 South bound at the Sugarlimb exit, (exit 74) there is usually a state trooper sitting under the overpass in the median southbound on I-75.

At the same exit about once every couple of months the sheriff’s dept and the drug enforcement taskforce people set up a road block at both the north and south bound exit ramps. You can’t see them because they are long and curvy exits, furthermore they set up radar traps near there on 75.
On I-75 south bound at the river bridge there is usually a state trooper in the median behind the trees in the afernoon.

On the North bound entrance ramp at HWY 72 state troopers like to sit there and run radar on the north bound lanes

On I-75 just past the private airport, and before you get to the Philadelphia there are 2 places that the state troopers run radar at both north and south lanes. They sit in the medians in between the heavily wooded areas that the mowers use to leave their tractors at night.
