Paris, Tennessee Speed Traps

One forever more major speed trap in the Paris city limits!
As you come into Paris on 79 the speed limit drops from 65 to 50. You will go through a traffic light and then be on the lookout for where the speed limit drops off agin to 40MPH! There is 3 seperate GOOD hiding places they will hide. Here is the thing, if you are in say a 5,000 lb vehicle (avg. suv/van/full size truck) and are going 50 to 55 mph when you SEE the 40mph sign ahead and let off the gas right then, you most likely will be OVER the speed limit when you get to that sign!!! SO BRAKE!!!! At 46MPH, they WILL write you a ticket! ($100ish$$$) OH! And ANYWHERE in PARIS TN, be DANG SURE you have your seatbelt ON !!! They LOVE giving “no seatbelt” tickets here! I have lived in or close to Paris for 37 years. Trust me on this one!

State Troopers work the four lane between the cities of Paris and Dover, Tennessee moderately heavy. The roadway is fairly flat and the troopers will generally nail speeders who are in the opposing lane of traffic. Troopers will sometimes lay low in the median late at night just outside of Paris heading towards the bridge. Activity picks up considerably during the summer months during tourist season.
