FM 620 near US Highway 71   Bee Cave, Texas

Due to the new Mall being built in Bee Cave, at the intersection of 620 and 71, there are many new work zones in place. In both directions coming from 620 onto 71 going East and on 620 on both sides going North - the speed limit is 45 mph. In 3 of the 4 work zones the zone makes sense. But the zone going north on 620 from 71 is a Speed Trap. Unlike the other zones that end when the working area ends, the trap on 620 means motorists must remain at 45 mph all the way north past Lake Travis High School. The South bound side of 620 is at 55 mph while the north bound side is at 45 mph. There are often several patrol cars in the evening, and they do work in teams. One cop car will go ahead of the crowd of cars and another will come up from behind. It happens often in the evening in rush hour, even when there are many other cars on the road at the same speed you were at. Also at night cop cars sit without lights on at the roadside, especially after some of the sharp corners this road offers. So Watch Out!

State Highway 71 near FM 3238   Bee Cave, Texas

Speed drops from 70 to 50 mph on highly traveled highway. Most traffic continues at highway speed. County deputy constantly patrols this area.
