Both north and southbound 281   Blanco, Texas

Coming into Blanco, I slowed down for a 50mph and then a 40mph sign. Shortly after, a cop car came racing up behind me in the left lane, so I pulled to the right to let him pass. He changed lanes and continued racing toward me, so I pulled into a parking lot, afraid he was going to hit me. Instead, he pulled in behind me and gave me a ticket for going 51 in a 40mph zone. When I pointed out that I had slowed down for the 40mph sign, he said there was another sign before that one. I didn't go back to check, but on the way out of town, I noticed that, southbound, there was a 55mph sign followed shortly by a 40mph sign, with a mobile 40mph sign IN BETWEEN the stationary signs. I didn't have a digital camera with me, so I can't upload, but I did take regular photos showing all 3 signs.

South Hwy 281   Blanco, Texas

Coming from the south into Blanco, speed limit goes from 70 to 65 to 55, then right past the Super S Store going down the hill it drops to 35. Almost impossible to do without slamming on brakes, not safe when large 18 wheeler is right behind you. Officers are waiting at the bottom of the hill!

US Highway Main highway through town near State Highway Hwy. 281   Blanco, Texas

Coming into town the speed limit is lowered several times. Local police wait at the various signs, which are often difficult to see, especially coming from the south. Some are hidden by tree branches until you get right to them and then it is too late to slow down before they catch you on radar.

Speeding Tickets

Find out why.

It's one of the "great" American past times: complaining about unfair speeding tickets. There are two types of people when it comes to complaining about this particular type of traffic ticket. Which group are you in?
