Rt. 40 Median about 9 miles West of Needles.   Needles, California

Just state troopers always hang there to catch drivers coasting down the grade... easy to increase speed because of long straight Safe grade.

I 40 Expressway   Needles, California

Don't know where the CHP was hiding. Said he clocked me at 93 MPH. I was in my rear view mirror every few seconds.
I have now heard from several people that Needles is a Speed Trap. Be Careful. It is the last chance the CHP has to get you before you enter Az. Cheers.

Interstate 40 near State Highway 95 north to Searchlight/Las Vegas   Needles, California

Anywhere from 11 miles west of Needles and to the city of Needles. There are many burms which the CHP hides behind, many times multiple vehicles, to catch speeding drivers coming down the mountain. It is very easy to bpick up speed without realizing it. I have been nailed twice there and have seen them there dozens of times, mostly in the early mornings or late afternoons.

Broadway at I-40   Needles, California

Needles PD loves to set up hidden behind the westbound offramp to Broadway. Here they can watch both the freeway and the street. Their spot is very well hidden and odds are you won't spot them untill their lights are on. This exit is about a mile beyond the Agricultural inspection station. I made the mistake of pulling out of the Arco station there at 2AM w/o my headlights on and did an illegal U-turn to get back onto the WB freeway (I saw the car, but it was totally unmarked in civilian colors, it just looked like a car parked in an empty lot). They pulled onto the freeway and came up to about 5 feet behind me and followed me to the next exit. I spotted them, did a textbook lane change, and tapped my brake lights when I came to a stop at the next exit. This, combined with the fact I was driving a minivan helped convinced them that I was not a drunk (but a tired out-of-stater) which was probably what they were looking for at 2AM on Saturday morning.
