Highway 116   Copperas Cove, Texas

Highway 116 speed limit is 70mph. At the north city limits of Copperas Cove, on 116, the speed limit abruptly drops to 60mph. There is often a Copperas Cove Police radar unit a couple of hundred yards from the city limit sign. Tickets average $200.00 to $650.00

190 @ Big Divide   Copperas Cove, Texas

This is a new road just west of Copperas Cove and the police moniter the traffic on Big Divide, and also where the road comes out on 190 they sit on the side of the road catching drivers coming up the hill.

FM-116 (North 1st Street)   Copperas Cove, Texas

This trap is Highly monitored. As you go across the railroad tracks on North 1st street, you will pass 7-11 convenience store and then you will pass a church at that point start slowing down because the radar starts there and extends all the way out of the city.

Westbound on 190 Expressway   Copperas Cove, Texas

A motorcycle police officer will sit next to the abandoned Bush's Chicken building just inside the eastern city limits. Radar is shot at the point where the speed limit drops to 40 m.p.h.

Highway 190   Copperas Cove, Texas

There are, on average, 5 Copperas Cove patrols out during the a.m. rush on the 190. The patrols are checking speeds through all of the Cove on the eastbound side heading towards Fort Hood. As you enter the Cove the speed limit is 45, and then it drops to 40, right near the Subway on the West bound side. This entire stretch of highway has a very high accident rate, so the patrols are a bit justified in their quest for speeders. I am not a fan of car accidents, especially early in the morning.
