US Highway 385

Dimmitt, TexasDec 01, 20010 Comments

US 385 N. of Dimmitt to the Deaf Smith County line is a very heavily patrolled area by the Texas Highway Patrol. The troopers will write citations at 73mph and above. The speed limit in this area is 70 mph day / 65 mph night. The majority of the people I talk to have received citations for NO SEAT BELT. Expect to be stopped by the troopers for anything (no license plate light even) and asked if you have been drinking. The troopers routinely stop people for stupid things like NO FRONT LICENSE PLATE or SPEEDING 72 IN A 70 and then ask you if you have been drinking. They get a lot of DWI’s this way. You will get a ticket for NO SEAT BELT because the Highway Patrol Troopers will not give warnings for seat belt violations. Minimum fine for speeding is $100.00, seat belt $100.00, child seat belt $155.00, and passing a stopped school bus is $1000.00 (I know, I got a fine list with one of my tickets.)
