In front of the Butterfield Inn is a Parking Lot that cops sit in. It is very tricky to see especially for north bound travelers.

There is a long stretch from town limits to town center going south, and the troopers wait around bend in road. The 45 mph sign is actually covered by a tree. The people who rented me my defensive driving video to reduce the ticket said they hear constantly that it is a speed trap. I see people getting tickets exactly where I did almost every time I go through.

Always keep an eye out for Troopers on this stretch of 114 between Springtown and Seymour, particularly around Jacksboro. They will pull you over prtty much for anything (In the past 4 years, I’ve been pulled over for doing 77 and 75mph [TWICE] by troopers on 114. All in 70mph zones).

Hwy. 281 about 2 miles south of town

I was travelling south out of Jacksboro on Hwy. 281 with my son. We just left our friend’s ranch that we were hunting on. I was pulling a trailer with an ATV. About 2 miles south of town I saw an officer about a quarter mile in front of me heading north on Hwy 281. I immediately looked at my speedometer which said 69 mph and I slowed down because I thought the limit might be 60 or 65 mph. I never go over 70 mph pulling my trailer and I was not in any rush. The officer got up to me and turned his lights on and did a quick u turn to run me down and I pulled over. He said I was going 84 mph and I just about died. I told him that I know I was not going over 70 mph and he argued and proceeded to write me a ticket. I am sure he did not like the fact I had a radar detector. I live four hours away and it wasn’t worth fighting in court. God knows the truth and will take care of the matter.
