Hwy 80 Red light downtown Luling, Tx

Luling, TexasFeb 14, 20140 Comments

At 0800 today I pulled into the Tiger Tote in downtown Luling after a right turn at the red light (Southbound) . Upon leaving the parking lot (right turn heading Southbound) I was stopped by a local cop for 35mph in a 20mph “School Zone”. I DO NOT SPEED…ever! He asked if I was local…no sir, I’m not. He asked if I had seen the School zone,…no, I had not, what school zone? What school? Cop,,where are you comming from? me, the Tiger Tote. Cop, oh well you problably didn’t even see the sign (it’s in the parking lot so you don’t notice it). It’s about 100′ from the redlight and you will not see it unless you are the first one at the light.

I saw the 35 mph sign in the next block after the Tiger Tote parking lot and was stopped about 2 blocks later in front of a 40 mph sign and ticketed. THIS IS A TRAP IN THE STRICT SENSE OF THE WORD AND THE COP KNEW IT. A freind laughed when I told him about getting a ticket in Luling. He got the same ticket in the same location 2 years before. Oh, and the school you ask? It’s located 1/4 mile West of the “school zone” off the hwyway in a neighborhood not anywhere near this zone!

ANOTHER MONEY GRAB! I will not make my weekly stops in Luling to by my usual $100 in fuel and I’ll find BBQ elsewhere.

The officers will hide near the bridge by Loves, in the median at the 632 mile marker on IH10, in a parking lot of an apartment complex near the city golf course, and behind a sign at a bar near the HEB. They will stop and cite you for doing as little as 4mph over, and some of them will stop at nothing to search your car for drugs.

This area is right on the Caldwell/Gonzales County line. Trooper, Sheriff, and local PD are known to hide just over the hill to catch you. You can see the new BUCCEE’s and the Old Love’s truck stop from here. Also, they’ll sit on either side of the shoulder–or simply be driving along radaring mostly oncoming traffic. You never know which method they’ll use–but it’s a better than 50/50 chance they’ll be an officer patrolling within about 7 miles either way of this area. Especially at night! NOT MUCH TOLERANCE. I was following someone at 72 in a 65. Radar detector went off. The trooper flipped in the median and pulled between me and the car in front–and got the car in front. Close call for me–and the guy in front wasn’t so lucky. He was going no faster than me. Watch it in here.
