McAllen, Texas Speed Traps
ON VIOLET BETWEEN MCCOLL AND JACKSON
McAllen Police Department Motorcycle Cop on Violet between McColl Rd. & Jackson Rd. He parks his motorcycle in a dirt road driveway, under a tree with many branches hanging low on the south side of the road. Since he is sitting in back of the hanging branches, he is very difficult to see.
10th street and highway 83
Where the McAllen Convention center is where 10th street crosses the Highway. I have revved my car before and a cop came out of nowhere to follow me (he thought i was speeding) but i was going the limit so he did not pull me over. My friend also got pulled over once in this area for speeding. He had just gone under the highway heading north on 10th.
Freddy Gonzalez between 23rd And 10th
This is a long stretch of road where the speed limit is posed at 30MPH. Everyone goes at least goes 45MPH. There’s an elementary here so PLEASE SLOW DOWN when it’s a school zone, but otherwise 30MPH is a ridiculous speed for a country road like this. Motorcycle cop(s) park under a large tree on the East Bound side of the street after you pass the School. Seriously the speed limit of 30MPH is ridiculous when there is no school in session.
Fern Street Between McColl and Jackson St.
Motorcycle Cops. Posted speed limit is 30, but due to the 4 traffic lanes and open stretch of road, traffic runs faster. They tend to hide in side roads or entrances to apartment complexes located on either side of the road. Very hard to see them. They run radar so if you have a radar detector, you can usually get an early warning, if not, they will get you! They are very hard to see, and they know it.
Violet Avenue between 1st Street and 2nd (Nikki Rowe)
Motorcycle officers, yes, sometimes two of them, like to park among the oleanders on the North side of the road. Speed limit is 30 but due to the open stretch from McColl to 2nd, westbound traffic tends to go faster. I have seen times when both officers have made stops at the same time.
