Intersection of Hwy 84 & Hwy 14   Mexia, Texas

When coming in to Mexia from the west on Hwy 84, the speed progressively reduces from 70 mph to 45 mph up to the intersection with Hwy 14. Right where the intersection begins with a right hand turn lane, there is a city 30 mph speed limit sign placed 40 feet from the edge of the pavement at the ROW line in front of a electric utility pole. As you drive into town, speed the limit increases to 35 mph and then 40 mph and then 45 mph the thru the main business section of town. This is blatantly a speed trap and the city of Mexia has violated several laws by placing this sign in a no-sign zone as prescribed in the TxDOT field manual for sign placement. I will be fighting a speeding ticket that was issued to me.

There is an Beer Distribution Center (not the beer barn) on the right side of Hwy 14 going towards wortham, City Cop likes to hide in the parking lot at night. The speed limit is 30mph and from the Beer Distribution Center you can see the speed limit change to 45mph. He got me once speeding up early. See them sitting there alot.

Hwy84 west bank parking lot right over bridge.   Mexia, Texas

City cop likes to sit in the bank parking lot where he can clock you coming over the bridge, and coming from Waco. Bridge has just been rebuilt bigger and wider lots of people flying. Speed limit is only 30mph. Seen many people get caught.

At intersection of Ross Ave. and State Route 14 North to Wortham   Mexia, Texas

Found him backing down beside the bridge at the underpass at Ross Ave. and State Route 14. If you are coming from Wortham and have not slowed down by then the City cop is hiding right there. Also, the City guy is at the foot of the overpass on Milam St./U.S. Hwy 84 - will get you just as you come off the overpass in either direction. Especially around 6am and 10 pm. (Right at shift change from Mexia State School).

Speeding Tickets

You deserve every speeding ticket you get. You can complain all you want after the fact, but it's true.
Find out why.

It's one of the "great" American past times: complaining about unfair speeding tickets. There are two types of people when it comes to complaining about this particular type of traffic ticket. Which group are you in?
