Others have mentioned the hill leading west into town. I want to let you know that until you get about 1 mile from the state park, You are still in Parker county and the state police for Parker like to hang out there. I live in MW and didnt mind that I got a ticket, I deserved it, but I did mind that it was just on the other side of the county line. My money didnt even go to my county. A lot of people think they are already in MW where they hang out. CITY cops like getting just past the public transit building and scooting back in the shadows.

US180 Westbound entering town

Mineral Wells, TexasSep 15, 20110 Comments

In Cool, the speed limit drops 5mph to 60mph, then returns to 65 soon thereafter. After the northward bend in the road, the downhill descent begins (65mph zone). Near the bottom of the descent, the speed limit changes to 55mph (well marked "Reduced Speed Ahead"), but then quickly changes to 45mph. MWPD have been seen parked in front of a vacant building, somewhat behind a sign, monitoring westbound traffic. Difficult to see the car before you hit the 45mph area, then it’s very obvious. Other locations can include a side street 1 blk west of the two motels. Make sure to not "sail down the hill"! Observed many times, in the daylight morning hours.

Since I posted this speed trap that others thought was not a speed trap . The signage has been changed from 30/40 over the hill to just 40 mph all the way. If it was not a speed trap why did the city change it?
