Pflugerville, Texas Speed Traps
Weiss Lane
Work Zone – no one has worked in the area for over 4 months. The road looks like a back road but has a long stretch of 35 mph – it is poorly marked with only one speed limit sign in a difficult position. It is used to generate money for the city and county.
Entire City
They work 130 every day. I observed the Chief working traffic in a neighborhood, hiding behind an unmarked Suburban.
Southbound FH-685 (TX-130 service road) at Panther Dr
Usually at night with laser. Cruiser sits at Panther Dr (just north of TX-45/TX-130 interchange) checking southbound traffic on service road (FM-685) just past TX-130 exit. (30.479993 N, 97.58863 W)
Pflugerville Pkwy between Greenlawn & Grand Ave Pkwy
The speed limit is 40mph. It is a four lane road (with a divider). The road passes through farm land and without looking, you’re already up to 50mph. Cops will sit there and pick off people left and right.
Kelly Lane School Zone @ Fire Station
The posted speed on Kelly heading west is 45 mph, except when school zone light is flashing. Whenever the light is flashing the speed limit is 25 mph. The thing is that the light may be on anytime. It is sometimes on most of the day; not just when kids are coming or leaving. I have lived near school zones for nearly forty years and never encountered one that did not have regular times posted. It’s a school zone when they say it is; and it’s not when they say it’s not. The ONLY way you know if 45 is the posted speed or twenty miles over is IF you saw the flashing light. Heads up!
