South of town on Hwy 174 Rio Vista, Texas

The city limits extend 3 to 4 miles beyond the edge of town. There are very few houses and no businesses along this stretch of road and it is easy to think you are in a 70 MPH zone, but the speed limit is 60 and they will cut you no slack.

State Highway 174 Rio Vista, Texas

Enforcement is set up on the south side of Rio Vista, 3 mile's coming in from Meridian, TX... on the east side of state Hwy 174, hidden on a hill, set next to the MKT railroad... also on the north side of Rio Vista coming in from Cleburne.

State Highway 174 near S of Countryclub Rd. by rodeo grounds in Cleburne all the way thru Rio Vista Rio Vista, Texas

Rio Vista enforcement is high all along Hwy 174 from just outside of Cleburne (by the rodeo grounds) all the way through Rio Vista - all the way to the RV campgrounds south of town.
174 is 60 miles per hour coming out of Cleburne, but it drops to 55 somewhere near John's Store and then again to 45 in the main part of town. Watch out for the 60 to 55 mph drop - this is where they really watch.
Going north on 174, the speed limit is 70 mph south of Rio Vista. It drops to 60 for a short stretch and then to 55 somewhere near the RV campgrounds. This is where I got stopped.
Be very cautious on weekends and especially on weekends with holidays, however enforcement is alawys quite heavy. Do not speed through Rio Vista - you will be stopped!

State Route 174 near FM 916 Rio Vista, Texas

It extends for at least 3-4 miles north and south of the town of Rio Vista on State Highway 174. There is no tolerance for any speed above 55 mph.
