US Highway 79 going through town

Rockdale, TexasFeb 15, 20150 Comments

Speed limit is 45 mph, apparently there is a 30 mph sign near the municipal area where the speed drops for about 15 seconds and then it goes back to 45 mph. I didn’t even notice and next thing I knew there were headlights behind me. First speeding ticket ever and definitely a speed trap.

North on hwy through Rockdale down a hill from 70 to 50 mph

My wife released the gas peddle on the 2010 Prius as soon as we saw the new speed limit of 60 and the car coasted thru the subsequent 50 mph sigh at 68. You must apply the brakes. We were busted. It is an ideal speed trap. I appealed to the JP for relief but got a note from a clerk suggesting there was no excuse for being 18 over the limit. $200.00.

US Hwy 79 & US Hwy 77

Rockdale, TexasNov 05, 20091 Comments

Traveling north on US77 and taking the interchange to US79 will result in a changing from 70 mph to 50 mph with no signage to indicate the change. Local yokel will be posted just east of the interchange on US79 due to knowledge of this information disconnect.

Nearly invisible 30mph sign (from 45mph). As sign comes into view, police car appears with siren and flashing lights.
