Interstate 30 at Dalrock Road

Rowlett, TexasApr 09, 20150 Comments

Rowlett recently annexed the land from the city of Dallas Parks Department and immediately started enforcement on I-30 at the Dalrock Road overpass on the Dallas and Rockwall county line located in the middle of Lake Ray Hubbard. The new patrols have been extremely busy and are creating more gridlock on I-30 during the rush hour traffic periods.

I-30 at Dalrock Road

Rowlett, TexasApr 08, 20150 Comments

Recently the City of Rowlett purchased the Elgin B. Robertson Park from the City of Dallas. The park is a peninsula of land extending into Lake Ray Hubbard and I-30 crosses from Rockwall on one side to Dallas on the other. With the purchase of the park, Rowlett now has access to a short segment of I-30 where since the purchase of the property in the middle of March 2015, Rowlett Police are constantly stationed at I-30 and Dalrock Rd. looking for speeders. There has been a police presence at all times (for the past few weeks) including morning and evening rush hour when traffic is moving well below the posted speed limit.

SH66 just east of Chiesa Road

Rowlett, TexasDec 05, 20140 Comments

Recent sighting of Rowlett police on motorcycle aiming westbound on SH66 while parked in dental office across from Race Trac gas station. They are using LIDAR, thus typical radar detector does not work on this equipment. I travel this road daily and this is a recent sighting of Rowlett PD using LIDAR in the area. The road is heavily patrolled and most of them uses standard K/Ka band speed gun.

S.B. SH 190 (Bush Fwy) Miller Road exit ramp

Rowlett, TexasJan 16, 20130 Comments

Rowlett Police have been stationed on the service road adjacent to the water tower. They ticket those coming off Bush Fwy if they exceed the 50 mph speed limit posted on the service road. They sit 300 feet in front of the 50 mph speed limit sign. The speed limit on Bush is 70 mph and doesn’t change by Texas law until 1000 feet past the 50 mph speed limit sign. Therefore, what the police are doing is illegal. If you get stopped, plead not guilty and the prosecutor should throw out the case. If not, go to trial. It’s a PITA but that’s the way things are until this police tactic stops. For those traveling S.B. on the service road from Main St., the 50 mph speed limit is posted south of Main St. and is enforceable. So if they stop you, it’s legal, but it’s not for those caught coming off Bush Fwy.

New PGBT service road near Target shopping center

Rowlett, TexasSep 02, 20110 Comments

There are no "real" speed limit signs posted on the completed service road yet, but police sit in Target parking lot enforcing the 30 MPH orange "advisory" speed signs using Laser guns — even though there are no workers on the road and it will eventually have a posted speed limit of 50-60 MPH.
