I40

I left Amarilo and first speed limit sign I saw was 75mph. I set my cruise control at 82. I admit I was speeding but the 15 barrels on the side of the road all of sudden became a construction site with workers and doubled the fine. Of course I have Kentucky license plates and won’t be able to appear in court. Most hostile law enforcement officer I have ever run into almost daring me to say the wrong thing. Think my wifes walker prevented me from going to their jail.

I took a road trip with my family from Arizona to St Louis. We rented a minivan with NY PLATES. 2014 Town and country. I had the digital speedometer set at 78 MPH in a 75 MPH speed limit. I fully admit i was pushing the limit there.

I was pulled over by a deputy (it was around 2-3 in the afternoon) who claimed is was traveling at 84 MPH. I should note that i had not passed anyone for miles and was traveling behind several big rigs. The Deputy proceed to check my licence and rental agreement and printed a ticket for me. claiming that if i was going one MPH faster it would have been a jail able offense. He told me if i wanted to dispute the ticket i would have to return to Texas and appear. But also put up a Bond with in 30 days to secure my court date.

Once the deputy had issued me my ticket, we had pulled over on a dirt shoulder for about 15 20 minutes.

I left the scene and we passed the same deputy issuing a ticket to another vehicle with Florida Plates.

we drove for a about another 30 miles and stopped for gas and coffee, after about a 20 minute stop. we got back on the I-40 and about a mile after the on ramp we say the same deputy in a Dodge Charger Issuing tickets to a vehicle with California plates.

This is my experience….. I have not made any assumptions but have only reported facts….

Please be wary of this area, if you have out of state plates.

I was a passenger with son driving. Witnessed a TX patrol traveling eastbound with emergency lights on in left lane several hundred yards before he finds my son in left lane traveling westbound, proceeds dangerously through meridian brush and pulls my son over within seconds. I don’t believe he used any radar or speed detection device. When questioned why and how fast, all he stated was that he had us at 90mph in 75mph speed limit. My son was traveling no faster than 82-mph as attested by GPS in our vehicle. Why 90? Because that’s exactly where the fines go up to $220. We’re out of state, in fact over 1,000 miles from home…no way to fight this one. I believe he was profiling out-of-staters, and any vehicle that wasn’t a service vehicle or truck. Didn’t help that my son’s car was sports-like, deep blue, and was perfectly maintained. He was victim of this revenue generating activity, which tainted my son’s perfect driving record with no previous moving violations or accidents. The patrolman had no interest in public safety or public service.

Pulled over for going 80 in a 75 mile zone. After getting the ticket I pulled off to get gas and noticed 3 other tickets being given in a 10-15 minute interval. All to out of state cars. I suspect out of state drivers are being targeted as a revenue source.

I was driving the other day at 68mph. I was behind a semi-truck, I am 5 months pregnant and I had a two-year old who I am potty training. I had to pee so, I sped up to the 75 mph speed limit. A Highway patrol car had been me for the past 30 minutes. I went around the semi-truck and since other cars were passing us, I thought that it should’ve been OK. I was coming down a slight hill and my speed went up to 77 mph. When I was pulled over the officer asked my reason for speeding. I said that I had to pee. I was given a ticket that said my speed was 87 mph. I’m from Arizona, so I didn’t make it to court to argue my case. Now, I’m on bed rest so it’s cheaper to pay a $180 ticket!
