Van Alstyne, Texas Speed Traps

This is definitely a speed trap as the local police are waiting at the south end of the city limits. Basically zero tolerance on a heavily traveled highway. If you do get stopped in VA, make sure they get you payment before the final court date. I missed mine, the fine was doubled to $574 for going 10 over the speed limit and warrants issued and suspension of license started. My fine was outrageous.

Beware of this speed trap city. The city is cash strapped so they are working U.S. Highway 75 constantly 24/7, especially Sunday afternoons. Be very aware if you’re an out-of-state driver. Texas requires front license plates, so it’s easy to recognize out-of-state vehicles with no front tag and pull you out of a line of cars all going the same speed. The speed limit if 75, so beware, they may pull you over for going 79, or even 76, since it’s local discretion!!!!

Watch out as there is a two-way service road on your right, so they can drive towards you regularly checking radar when traffic is very light

they will wait till there is a lot of people around you coming out of Dallas! and say your speed is higher than is realy is!! my Cruise control was set and they added to it so he could say it was 10 over?! ther should be a law aginst that!!!! I would fight it but I know I will not win!!! crooked cops!!!

Comment (02/2010): Starting at the Collin/Grayson County line thru exit 53 on U.S. Hwy. 75 you will encounter a revenue generation machine. Do not speed. You will notice a lot of people driving well under the speed limit. This is because they are aware of the 24/7 scrutiny. Warning – do not pass on the right to avoid slow traffic! Even if it appears to be a (3) lane interstate at all entrance ramps. If State Trooper pulls you over just let him yell and rebuke you. He definetely has issues. I guess I would too if I had to meet unrealistic quotas.
