Front Street between Denton and Hwy 51   Weatherford, Texas

This widened section of Front Street has officers cruising it back and forth or sometimes waiting in the cemetery drives. They will pull in behind you as soon as you top the hill. Even if you are just trying to get up the hill, they will cite you for speeding in a residential area even though there is only an empty field on one side and the cemetery on the other. I've seen them pull over folks while cruising west, turn around at the tire store, then pull over someone going east. Then they turn around at Denton, and do it over again for hours at a time.

Franklin St north of railroad crossing   Weatherford, Texas

When coming down from the Railroad bridge the speed limit is 30 MPH but you pickup 7 MPH coming down the hill. They police sit at corner of Weatherford St and shoot you with a radar gun and write tickets.

Hwy 5 and I-20   Weatherford, Texas

Hwy 5 to East bound I-20 on ramp. Officer sits just over the crest of a small hill, monitoring vehicles accelerating to merge with oncoming I-20 traffic. By the time you see him... it's too late. Accelerate slowly and safely, you'll have plenty of time to get to highway speed after the crest.

Old Dicey Rd   Weatherford, Texas

Weatherford "Police" sit at various spots on Old Dicey, including in peoples driveways. Speed limit is 30 but No one drives 30 on Old Dicey, including Weatherford "Police," Sheriffs cars or Texas DPS. I crawl down Old Dicey (at 30mph) because I Know it's a speed trap, and end up being passed by everyone, including the cops. Weatherford "Police", by the way have no regard for the traffic laws themselves, they break them with impunity, but You will be pulled over and ticketed. This, by the way, is the very defintion of Chutzpah!

Tin Top Rd, south of I-20   Weatherford, Texas

Tin Top Rd, going South from the Weatherford city limits, is 40mph, until you get near the Brazos River, where it jumps to 55mph. Tin Top Rd is a good, fairly straight road, and No One runs down it at 40 mph (except me, on cruise). Unfortunately for speeders on Tin Top Rd, at least 2 Highway Patrol Troopers are on Tin Top Rd, so they are constantly "patroling" that road. Although "ticket quotas" are illegal in Texas, I am sure the Troopers' Sgt. "suggests" a minimum # of tickets per Trooper, per week. For the Troopers running up and down Tin Top Rd, this presents no problem, since " it's like shooting fish in a barrel".

Speeding Tickets

You deserve every speeding ticket you get. You can complain all you want after the fact, but it's true.
Find out why.

It's one of the "great" American past times: complaining about unfair speeding tickets. There are two types of people when it comes to complaining about this particular type of traffic ticket. Which group are you in?
