Wilmer, Texas Speed Traps
Where speed drops without much notice
My 18-year old daughter was pulled over, not seeing the speed limit change (75 to 65). I’m fine with her getting a ticket for speeding and even for missing a posted sign, but the office who pulled her over was rude and unprofessional. She was a little frightened, since she was alone and had never gotten a ticket, so had tears in her eyes. He told her to save the tears and said, “What do you care anyway? Mommy and daddy are going to pay the ticket for you anyway.” Really? As a matter of fact, she’s a full-time college student who works two jobs, so no, Mommy and Daddy aren’t paying for her ticket, and $180 is indeed a hardship on a college student. We love and support our men in blue but it’s guys like this who lack discernment and don’t know how to respect people who give the rest a bad name. Big man picking on a 5’4″, 110 lb. teenager.
45 North between Pleasant Run & Beltline
Was pulled over for 79 in a 65 after driving back from Houston (75mph for 200 or so miles). What irritates me is that there were 3 other vehicles in various lanes that were pulling away from me prior to getting lit up. I was going slower than the other traffic on the road. I knew by the look that the officer had that I was getting a ticket. Watch your speed here, corruption at it’s finest. No chance of a warning, at all. Didn’t ask where I was coming from or if I had any drugs/weapons/etc in the vehicle. The stop took all of MAYBE 10 minutes.
I-45 northbound between exit 272 and 273
Speed limit signs are small, one side of the road, no speed limit change signs seen after miles of faster speeds. Woe to out of state drivers! Welcome to Texas. After my ticket, saw two Wilmer police at the Love’s taking a break from writing tickets.
I-45, Just as you enter the city limits of Wilmwe
This town is the worst. I have lived all my life in Texas and this is by far the most crooked city. I am surprised that they get away with it. I was stopped for following too closely and the cop also said i was speeding, when I was not. I was the second car and he did not even have a radar. The judges are also in this and appeals fell on deaf ears
Anywhere on I-45
I go through this town every time I go to Dallas to visit my son. In ten years, I have never driven through this town without seeing a police officer in the progress of giving a ticket. I know better, but it is the trap from hell. Be very, very careful here!
