Rt 11 north of Town & SR 675 from exit 279 (I-81)

Edinburg, VirginiaDec 02, 20100 Comments

Very aggressive enforcement effort by the town cop(s). Rt. 11 north of town is sparsely populated and speed limit is 55. A short down hill right sweeper will bring you quickly into a 35 MPH zone and the speed trap. Then 100 yds more and it goes to 25 MPH. The town uses moving radar. Exiting I-81 at #279 will bring you down into town and through another speedtrap within 1/2 mile. Best to avoid this town/exit altogether – there are better choices for fuel and food a few miles north in Woodstock, or south at Mt.Jackson. Edinburg is not traveler friendly.

US Highway 11 & SR 675

Edinburg, VirginiaMar 28, 20060 Comments

Sleepy village of 800. Main St is less than a mile long with No traffic lights. US 11 speed is 55 but drops to 25 rather quickly. Officers set at both ends of town in effort to catch the 30-35 mph "speeders" Police run radar because they don’t have anything else to do, and the ticket income is substancial. They do have pretty nice equipment though! Beware!
