Grottoes, Virginia Speed Traps

They run radar all the time, they sit in the rescue sqaud parking lot shooting both directions of 340

If traveling north on Rt. 340 you cross into the town limits at a small shopping mall with a Food Lion and several food places on the left. Directly across the road you have self storage units and there is a car parked in there constantly (sometimes marked sometimes not) running radar. Have seen them in there @ 2 a.m. and 3 a.m. Can’t see them if you are traveling south until it’s too late. This town is one town to really watch your speed. They don’t like big trucks coming through their town.

Coming into Grottoes east on 256 just past South River bridge. It’s a gradual right hand turn that is blocked by trees and bushes, they are usually there with radar.

Constantly someone running radar here, sometimes a marked charger, sometimes an unmarked, and others a marked cruiser. You can’t ride through without seeing someone pulled over. You know what they say "Little town, little to do"

a small town that supports the tax base with tickets. keep it as close to the limit as possible when in town. part time cops love to write tickets here.
