Martinsville, Virginia Speed Traps

Spruce Street is 3 miles in length and has 5 speed limit changes coming toward town from the 58 by-pass. There are 5 different locations in the 3 miles that the police are trapping. 1 near Carlisle School turn off is County rest are City. Currently all are active. October 2011.

Coming into city on spruce st., city police sit on left at duplex apartment.The speed limit drops from 45 yo35 and as you top the hill you enter radar area.This area is consistantly monitored towards the end of months.

The speed limit turns from 45 to 35 for about a mile and then goes back to 45. As you pass by the road that turns off to Carlyle School, not far from Corn Tassel Trail, headed toward the bypass many people have been pulled for speeding.

City Police sit a this location in the mornings they are catching speeders coming into town, in the afternoon they are catching speeders coming out of town. They seem to be giving a good leeway as the posted speed are 35mph and it looks like the don’t pursue till over 45mph but don’t hold me top that.

There are few buildings along the strip located within a mile past Wal-Mart when you are headed south. The units usually hide out in these parking lots with minimal lighting.
