Mechanicsville, Virginia Speed Traps

8:43 AM 3/2/16 – VA State Police running speed traps on both sides of 295 about one mile east of Exit 41 301/2.

This has been a speed trap for years, but with construction on bridge now the speed trap area has expanded.

When you are North/West bound on i295, shortly after you pass the Meadowbridge exit, there has lately been a State Trooper who is racking up the tickets. The road is slightly downhill and is a great place to kick up the speed. You are the most in danger of getting caught in the late hours after dark. He sits on the left hand side in the median, and is virtually invisible until it is too late. I posted this on 4/16/10.

Moving eastward from Laburnum Ave. towards Cold Harbor Rd. on 360 (Mechanicsville TPKE), you come down a hill where the speed limit increases to 55mph, after a short flat run before the traffic light speed limit drops to 45mph, sheriffs hide by the junkyard or small used car dealership.
