4800 Block of Patterson Ave   Richmond, Virginia

I live on the 4700 block of Patterson Ave, a four-lane inter-city road. About once a week, the Richmond City Police park on 4800 Patterson Ave, on the North side of the street, tucked in with the parked cars. Drivers don't see the police car or motorcycle until after they pass it. The speed limit is 35 mph, but traffic usually flows at about 45 mph. Because it is about a mile between the traffic lights at Patterson and Willow Lawn Drive and Patterson and Westmorland, it is easy for drivers to find themselves well over the speed limit.

In front of Dumbarton Elementry School   Richmond, Virginia

Henrico police sit in one of the entrance ramps to the elementry school. They pull up beside the school sign, which is near the road, and monitor the traffic that is coming from the direction of Hermitage High School. The school sign completely sheilds the police cruiser. The speed limit is 35mph during normal hours, but because of the two schools the speed limit changes to 25mph twice a day.

Dumbarton Ave is 4 lanes wide and posted 35 mph. Henrico PD likes to shoot west from the shade just before Hermitage Road in the mornings.
