Officer sits at bottom section of hill, aims radar gun at top of hill, catches car as it comes around curve, speeding up from downhill momentum. Officer says limit is 60 there, plus it is a safety zone. Never saw speed limit sign for 60, nor safety zone signs. Definite speed trap.

Approaching downtown Salem from Apperson Drive, slow down as you crest bridge over Rail tracks and come down hill into business zone…25 mph area…frequent police presence

Roanoke County/Salem City Police radar for speeders traveling toward Lakeside Plaza. Police use two areas: Slightly before Pinkerton Chevrolet; hiding in Pinkerton’s entrance road. Speed limit is 35 but traffic travels 45 typically. Minor-Moderate frequency and always after Pinkerton is closed. And in the area of 419 between Locke St. and Dalewood Ave. Speed limit is 45 but downward slope causes increase of speed. Motorists are always riding their breaks downhill and there is no warning. Minor-Moderate frequency and time of day does not matter.

“Disabled” vehicle at the side of the road working radar to trap people in the safety corridor for double fines. Several officers running down cars N and S to issue the tickets.
