Sometimes a Fairfax County cop will sit and wait at the fire station next to the brick wall on the property watching for speeders or other violations. There have been times when they will sit at the back of the shopping center that had circuit city and starbucks coffee (right across the street) watching people blow by the stop sign in the shopping center or watching people drive by north on Spring Hill Rd.

State Highway Route 267 Dulles Toll Road near US Highway Route 7

State Trooper gave me 73/55, 3:35pm on 3/21/08, East bound. Traffic moves at 65-75. It’s odd that he put Rt.7 as location of the offense since he pulled me over on the Toll Road immediately past the Toll Booth near Rt. 7. Wonder if I could beat this on that technicality? Wonder if it’s worth going to court?

Dulles Access Road near Trap Road

Trap Road exits off the parallel toll road to Wolf Trap Farm Park. As you are heading to Dulles Airport on the Dulles Access Road, just after you pass under Trap road the barrier on your right is in two parts: a metal guard rail and a concrete barrier. This splits with a drain at the western (nearest the airport) end of the guard rail. The drain is sunk so low, you cannot see the patrol car until after you have passed and can look back. Of course, by then it is too late. I take a bus along the road and frequently see the patrol car in there from my high seat in the bus.

Rt 7 West of 267

Traveling west out of Tysons on Rt 7, the limit is only 45mph until well past Lewinsville Rd. (where it goes up to 55), although most people jump to 55 in this stretch. Be careful – I got a ticket about 10pm for doing so! Cop told me he sat there ‘frequently’.
