Chester, Vermont Speed Traps

Aggressive police hide right behind speed signs which change drastically. We’ve been traveling from ct on this route and seen this trap town make money for over 30 years off non residents.

Stretch of curves between two long flat straightaways. One the speed limit is 50 the other its 40. they lurk in driveways on the 40 mph stretch coming and going.

For a tiny town they have a LOT of cops and write LOT of tickets.

Have driven through and seen three cars writing tickets on the same pass through, a couple of miles apart.

And they are paranoid and beyond rude if your not lily white. I’m hispanic and was asked if I was a radical muslim!

When heading North on 103 as you enter Chester the speed limit drops to 40 from 50 and then immediately to 30. This is the correct limit for the area however the change is too quick. You must be very aware to reduce speed in time. The Chester police AND the stat police hang out near the transition from 50 to 40 and 40 to 30.

You come around the corner on 103 right before the Stone Cottage heading north on 103, and the speedlimit drops to 30mph as you exit the corner, the Chester Police (in a green explorer with a low profile LED lightbar that you dont notice until its on) will be sitting in a parking lot facing south and get your speed right at the sign.

There is a VERY HIGH level of enforcement in the WHOLE TOWN!! It seems like they are everywhere!
