Pownal, Vermont Speed Traps
South stream Rd (near Maple Grove Rd)
State Trooper vehicle with radar set up. 35 mph Speed limit is strictly enforced.
Rt 7 about 1 mile from MA line.
State troopers and county sherrifs will sit either in Winchester’s store parking lot or in the north enterance of the race track during hours of darkness. This is a very lucrative location for the police, causes for being pulled over range from speeding to not coming to a full stop, and weaving? to not using a turn signal when turning on to or off of RT 346. Many times people will be pulled over entering or exiting the two trailer parks in the area and given a false reason for the traffic stop just to check the drivers ID.
US Highway 7 near School House Road
The speed limit is 40 MPH on this stretch dropping from 50 MPH. Troopers are out sometimes in packs hammering traffic here. I don’t know if it is because before they see the speeding traffic there is two reduced speed signs and two 40 MPH signs or the fact there is a school right here. If you are going 45+MPH expect a ticket and anything else they can hit you with!
RT. 7
On Rt. 7 coming over the Mass/VT line at the Stewarts shop State Troopers and the town constable wait here, about 4 miles up it drops from 50 to 40 and they always wait at the town store at all times of day. Within the past weeks I’ve seen County Sheriffs on this strip with cars pulled over at 7:00 am
