Northgate Avenue near Haggin Avenue   Sacramento, California

The Alethea B. Smythe grade school located at 2781 Northgate Blvd between Haggin Ave & Wilson Ave. Northgate is a 4-lane road running north-south situated between Hwy 80 and Hwy 160. Natural traffic flow on Northgate runs about 40 to 45 mph in this mostly commercial area. When transitioning into this school speed zone, its very easy to exceed posted speed limit with pressure of close proximity cars lining up behind you. Suggest getting into right (slow) lane and slow to speed limit. Not unusual to see 4 to 6 motorcycle officers doing round robin tagging on both North and South bound lanes from time to time. Local TV stations occasionally do specials on speeders going past this school which includes interviews with local law enforcement and ticketed drivers.

Interstate 5 near Pocket/Meadowview Road   Sacramento, California

Northbound I-5 comes off an overpass and descends to the Pocket/Meadowview exit. At several different times during the day, I have seen CHP (both in cars and on motorcycles) parked on the shoulder, aiming their radar back toward the overpass. Because northbound traffic is going downhill at this point, it frequently speeds up well above the 65 mph posted limit. The motorcycles are especially hard to see, not because they hide, but because they get camouflaged by the trees and brown grass at the exit.
