Hwy 35 Little River Canyon National Park

Fort Payne, AlabamaAug 17, 20150 Comments

Hwy 35 goes through the Little River Canyon National Park which is something you don’t notice much as you see many entering and exiting National Parks but this one apparently has a lot foot traffic and the park police are vigilant. Not realizing all this a National Park police SUV was on me in no time. Never ran into anything like this before with a Federal speed stop.. Be aware to slow down along Hwy 35 when you are in the park. I don’t want to say it is a trap but it catches you unaware riding though the country side.

Speed limit 55 mph. Received the only ticket in 45 years of driving. Met cop, I was end line of 4 cars, cop claimed I was going 67mph which is their standard figure of speed where ever you are stopped. Probably doing less than the speed limit for I had family and grand children in vehicle. Will never have respect for city of Fort Payne or their judicial system. Speed trap for revenue is the only fair name of this game.

Heavy patrolling and harassment of out-of-state drivers. My 75-year old father was stopped when he wasn’t speeding and forced to unload his trunk because the officer accused him of drug-running.

Heavy enforcement during the construction on the bridge over the interstate. Usually hiding on the north side of the bridge. Mainly use plain vehicles with no exposed blue lights.

A construction zone on Sunday with no workers. The speed is 55. Then it drops to 35. But there are no workers and I personally think that if there are no workers the speed should not be enforceed. but they will stop you and give you a ticket.. 188.50 Drive safely
