State Route 4 and 12 near State Rt .12 to Bridgewater   Woodstock, Vermont

This 4 mile stretch of Rt 4 from the intersection of Rt 12 north to and including the town of Bridgewater varies in limits from 25 to 50 mph. The limit changes are frequent and abrupt. Every time going through here I see someone being cited.

Next to the center of "downtown" Woodstock at the intersection of Rt 106 is a loop known as The Green. It is two lanes wide and posted 25 mph, no passing. I missed the no passing sign in previous trips. When asked, by the officer, why was I pulled over I replied I didn't think I was speeding. She didn't have radar on but cited the no passing. A speeding ticket would have been cheaper than the $199 no passing fine.

If you use Rt 89 go around this section rather than go through it. Or drive like you're a little old lady.

US Highway 4   Woodstock, Vermont

Leaving Woodstock Eastbound the speed limit is 25 but a sign indicates "Entering Thruway". There are a bunch of signs (name of town Rotary Club etc. on the opposite side of the street for Westbound traffic coming to town and the cops hide behind the signs and ticket people who cross the bridge leaving picturesque Woodstock (narrow streets old buildings, rail fences)and find themselves on the wide highway commercial strip with big gas stations and shopping center etc. 40 mph gets you about $150 and if you try and fight it they add another $30.

US Highway 4 near State Route 12 & 106   Woodstock, Vermont

Watch out for all of the Villag area in the Town of Woodstock, Vermont. This is a well posted 25 MPH speed zone (the whole village). The speed signs also are posted with NO PASSING! Don't even think about it, as you will get ticketed. We don't play games with safety. The road signs are posted in conformance with the federal rules & regulations for signage. Pay attention to the posted signs, and drive the legal limit, and you will not have a problem. Our average ticket is for 18 mph over the posted limit, thats also in the heart of the village, not just on the outskirts. If you are looking for a ticket, our average ticket is for $150 +.

Speeding Tickets

You deserve every speeding ticket you get. You can complain all you want after the fact, but it's true.
Find out why.

It's one of the "great" American past times: complaining about unfair speeding tickets. There are two types of people when it comes to complaining about this particular type of traffic ticket. Which group are you in?
