The signs say it’s a school zone “when children are present”. However, if you drop your child off mid morning (such as after a doctor/dental appt so late to school) and there are not kids around, you will still get pulled over and a ticket for “26 in a 20” in my case. (The speed is marked at 25 when kids not present). The police are there daily every fall, then it tapers off but still, even at midnight, I’d suggest going 20 when no one is present just in case.

Chappel Hill Road near Davies Road

At base of hill between Davies Road (lake Road) and bottom of hill. Motorcycle cop typically there with radar. You know they will be out in full force in Lake Stevens when they have put up the "Your Speed" electric billboard before gunning motorists. It is pretty easy to get rolling faster than the 25 mile an hour speed limit and get nailed.

State Highway 92 West of Lake Stevens

At the top of the hill that has a 55mph speed limit on Hwy 92 the speed changes from 55mph to 35mph the last 1/4 mile to Hwy 9. Hwy 9 intersection is a 40mph road in the town. Total speed trap that nails anyone more than 2mph over in that 2 block area. A definate big moneymaker. Some days city police, county mountie and state patrol have 6 motorcycles lined up taking turns, out of site waiting to get anyone in that 55 to 35 mph transition.

From the Hwy 2/Hwy 92 "Y" intersection on the east end of the trestle to Lake Stevens. As the road climbes up the hill to Lake Stevens the speed limit was reduced to 55mph from the old 60mph. It is the only 2 lane area that anyone can pass a slow truck.
