Stevens Highway near Energy Solutions building

Three lanes each direction posted 55 mph for miles but drops to 35 for about 0.25 miles through this zone for no apparent reason. Richland PD likes to sit at the bottom of a rise coming southbound during the middle of the day when traffic is sparse. The freeway like road conditions are condusive to trapping motorists for speeding, usually 10+ over the limit.

These nice police sit backed into an incoming and outgoing entrance at Rite-aid and impede outgoing trafic from Rite-Aid. This is of course usually during the school zone light times as they can produce double the ticket cost.

Wellsian Way

When you turn South onto Wellsian Way from Lee Blvd. you will encounter a school zone which is activated by a small flashing light which prompts you to slow to 20 MPH. This occurs at various times of the day. There are two turn lanes and you may see it or not depending on which turn lane you are in and what type of vehicle is in the ‘outer’ turn lane. Larger vehicles can block the sign from the “inner’ lane. The police seem to like this area because many do not see the sign and speed through the zone. The fact that it is a school zone also doubles the fine.

Highway 240, going west towards Vantage

About 2 or 3 miles past the Horn Rapids RV resort on King’s Gate Way, on the laser-straight stretch of deserted highway with its ridiculous 55 MPH limit, there is a small rise. Just past that is a sandy wide spot on the right, and either the state patrol or a Benton County deputy like to sit there and nap people who go by at what would be a ”normal” for that type of road’s 60 to 65 MPH.
