Northbound State Hwy 101 onramp off Avila Beach Drive   San Luis Obispo, California

Northbound 101 coming from Pismo Beach (aka Shell Beach) watch your downhill speed after cresting what is left of the old Ontario Grade. The CHP sits back on the long northbound onramp catching accelerating downhill cars heading for San Luis. This is just before you reach the San Luis Bay Drive overpass which is where they park on top of another northbound onramp. I got a ticket while borrowing a pickup truck whose seat belt wouldn't buckle. I wasn't speeding so I refused to pull over until the next offramp onto So. Higher St. The shoulder is too narrow on this stretch of 101.

On Foothill between Casa st. and California Blvd.   San Luis Obispo, California

Motorcycle cop sits obscured by fence and foliage in a driveway of an apartment bldg. on the south side of Foothill, and he gets you before you ever see him

Highway 1 North of Cuesta College (2)   San Luis Obispo, California

Northbound Hwy 1 after second Cuesta College traffic light, the road goes up and over a hill - Highway Patrol will sit at the base of the hill just around a bend in the road. When you see him it is too late. Also, northbound Hwy 1 between Canet Road and San Bernardo Creek Road, Highway Patrol sits hidden just after crest in hill - the radar is on you before you can get off the gas pedal.

Johnson Avenue, between Laurel Lane and Sydney St.   San Luis Obispo, California

Usually one or two motorcycle officers. Have seen them parked obscurely in a driveway, on the French Hosptal side of Johnson. As you're approaching from either direction, you tend to pick up speed as their location is at the bottom of a hill. Haven't seen them lately as they have put up a digital speed monitor in the general vacinity, but you never know.

Santa Rosa/Hwy 1 and Murray   San Luis Obispo, California

Headed south on Santa Rosa past Foothill. Right after Murray there's a cop on a motorcycle that hangs out in the professional plaza to the right that gets people coming down Santa Rosa. Usually there in the mornings, but recently I've seen him there in the afternoons, too.
