East and Westbound on W. Seattle Bridge

West Seattle, WashingtonJun 11, 20100 Comments

A motorcycle cop is located at the bottom of the bridge in both directions and others are ready to "chase". Most cars move at the psoted 35 or 45 limit; many cars feel that because they can see so far go 50-60mph doing rapid lane changes. It is a speed trap, but seems necessary due to low barriers, construction to prevent horrible accidents with difficult access for EMT. I have been ‘trapped’ on bridge for two hours due to accidents. BEWARE!

Highland Park Drive and West Marginal

West Seattle, WashingtonApr 16, 20100 Comments

This is the steep hill going down to West Marginal on Highland Park Drive. Times seem to vary so I try to not go down the hill any faster than 35MPH. The speed limit is only 30 and nearly impossible to keep your car at that speed. When the trap is going on I’ve seen as many as 5 cars pulled over at the bottom of the hill.

Admiral Way near 34th Street

West Seattle, WashingtonMay 26, 20080 Comments

Motorcycle patrolmen very far down the hill will wait at the bottom of Admiral Way tagging cars with a laser as they move downhill. Also, SPD will park on 34th Street clocking cars leaving the W. Seattle Bridge to come uphill where the limit drops from 45 to 30 MPH.

Motorcycle officers sit on SW Myrtle [right where you crest the hill on 35th and partially hidden behind the chain link fencing around the water towers. Typically 7:30am to 8:30am weekdays.

West Seattle Bridge between the 99 (Alaskan Way) and Harbor Blvd

West Seattle, WashingtonJul 25, 20020 Comments

One standing officer radars traffic heading West from a closed entrance ramp to the West Seattle Bridge while others (i’ve seen as many as 5 motorcycle cops waiting in the wings with two having already pulled people over on weekend afternoons) accelerate out one after another and pull over the unlucky ones. posted 35 mph, traffic regularly moves along at a very reasonable 50 mph.
