San Tomas Expressway and El Camino Real   Santa Clara, California

Heading towards Stevens Creek Blvd., between 5:00-6:00 PM, there is a motorcycle cop on the right corner near the bus stop monitoring the carpool lane. This is during the high traffic times when San Tomas Expressway lanes merge into 2 lanes after the El Camino Real light. Solo drivers avoid this location by taking the carpool lane and are caught.

Lawrence Expressway/Cabrillo   Santa Clara, California

Occasionally during the morning commute between 7:45am and 8:45am (When traffic is peaking) a motorcycle cop will post up on the corner island on Lawrence and Cabrillo looking for carpool violations. The problem with this is that if you just merged from El Camino Real or Lawrence Road there is not enough time to move out of the carpool lane safely as traffic is bumper to bumper. Especially if the Cabrillo light is red. So he sees you in carpool pulls you over and tickets you. That's why you always see a cop at the Shell on Lawrence and Monroe ticketing someone. It's the first place to pull over after passing Cabrillo.

Bowers Avenue North of Chromite   Santa Clara, California

After the light at Chromite going North on Bowers Ave there is a Caltrain overpass. The road goes down there and typically cars speed up. On the other side of the overpass there is often a motorcycle cop hiding behind the bushes in the Keystone parking lot, especially during morning commute. Speed limit is 35 and it is easy to hit 45 or 50 mph as you pick up speed going under the overpass.

CHP motor waits on the right, just past the first 45-mph sign, for vehicles which haven't slowed enough from freeway speed, during Non-commute periods (when there is no traffic to "follow").
