Turtle Lake, Wisconsin Speed Traps

Officer sits at NE corner of Hwy 63 & East Town Line Road intersection catching drivers going NNE on Hwy 63 (a city 30 mph zone until East Town Line Road) and drivers coming into Turtle Lake on Hwy 63 not realizing 30 mph zone starts that far out of town. Open highway is deceiving coming or going. It’s still city until East Town Line Road.

Turtle Lake PD is a small department but due to additional traffic from the Casino, there are a lot of accidents from people not watching what they are doing. Therefore, the Officers try to slow traffic by their presense and due so by stopping speeders.
For a small department, the Officers write a lot of tickets so keep your speed down.

I have traveled this area extensively and I am here to tell you those Officers are extremely aggressive/proactive. They are tolerant and understanding to a point but cross the line and your ass is grass.

State Patrol sits in a farm field driveway and gets motorist coming out of Turtle Lake and also coming from the east into Turtle Lake. So watch your speed coming out of Turtle Lake or when you get to Upper Turtle Lake, reduce speed before going over hill!
