Wausau, Wisconsin Speed Traps
Hwy 52 Stewart Ave
Heading into downtown Wausau on 52/Stewart, the road splits into one way traffic going over the river into downtown. Heading east between the two river bridges there is an old train depot. Cops will sit in the driveway between it and the wooded riverbank and cannot be seen until they are right out your passenger window. Will ticket for 5 over!
Sherman Street, Wausau
Sherman St in Wausau was widened from two to four lanes between 28th Ave and 17th Ave in 2010. Speed limit is 25. With the new, wide road, it is very easy to speed, especially coming off of Hwy 51. Wausau city cops will sit on any of the side roads along Sherman, as well as in a small driveway across from Home Depot. Cars are pulled over here on a daily basis.
Lily Lane Frontage Road Rib Mountain
Police routinely are spotted on the I39 Frontage Road (Lily Ln) just south of Kings Campers. They sit at the Rib Mountain Municipal Pump House waiting for speeders to pass. Because this is a frontage road, the speed limit (30 m.p.h.) is easily exceeded. Pay attention so the tax man doesn’t get into your wallet.
3rd Avenue
The cop will sit in the alley by the old U Pump gas station across the street from Blue Willow. You cannot see him until you are past him going north and you will only see him going south if you are looking for him. They do stop quite a few people and give tickets this way.
I see this quite often as I live right by it.
Between co hwy N and Sherman St exit
I have recently seen that there are many stoppings in the north-bound lane around the new (3/15/2009) 29 west ramp in march of 2010 MANY TIMES I have seen 2 police cars with vehicles pulled over -WATCH OUT
