Eastbound HWY 108, 1 mile east of Mono Lake Blvd (Via Este)

Sonora, CaliforniaSep 26, 20101 Comments

Speed limit begins at 45, increases to 50 for the passing lane. It’s a long passing lane, but a very short chokedown point (merge). Cop sits in the shadows on the ther side of 55mph sign and shoots back into merger point of passing lane. Very profitable spot, as most people speed up just before the merge.

Hwy 49 northbound upon exiting Sonora downtown.

Leaving Sonora downtown on Hwy 49 heading north, you go down a small hill and curve to the right. It is easy to pick up speed, especially since it feels like you are leaving the commercial area. But the speed limit is still 25 mph there. Sonora police will park at the bottom. By the time you see the patrol car, it’s too late.

CHP sits beneath a tree at the third crossover on left. The location is above the highway, so you cannot see them until you have passed. Speed limit 65mph.
