Swearengin Road near Main Street   Grant, Alabama

Nearing the city of Grant on the Swearengin Road, the Grant Police force write tickets daily to multiple drivers. The trap is located just past a hill that requires a driver to use his brakes to stay below the speed limit. The Grant Police Dept. (4 full time policemen) has written over $100,000 worth of tickets in the last year. All for a city with a population of less than 500. 4 full time policemen for a town of 500 people is ridiculous.

Cathedral Caverns Highway Street near Firetower Road   Grant, Alabama

Grant is a small town of no more than 1000 residents. On an average, there are 90-100 tickets written a month in this town. If you drive through this town with an out-of county tag and you are going just a few miles over the speed limit, then you are almost guaranteed a ticket, for which you are not allowed to go to driving school to keep it from going on your record. For such a small town, the expenses that the police department have are very great. They have a new Dodge Durango for the "Drug Dog" to ride in, several paid officers, new laptop computers for the patrol cars(a donation?) not to mention the helicopter that they have access to, which they "say" is through a donation from a man from Florida. I have never known of Grant needing a helicopter for anything. Grant also has the resources of the Marshall County Sherriff's Department and the Marshall County Drug Unit. So is all of this necessary for such a small town? Especially when their revenue is so greatly increased by the excess writting o

Marshall County 5 Road near Intersection of Cathedral Caverns Highway & County Rd #5   Grant, Alabama

This is an unusual compliant regarding a speedtrap operated by State Conversation Officers driving unmarked older vehicles and sometimes not in uniform. Although technically these are state officers, they are supposed to limit enforcement to state facilities such as parks & primarily to non-trafic issues. the officer in this area are stopping and writing citations several miles from their assigned job site. I was given ticket and told I was doing 62 MPH in a 5o MPH zone clocked by radar. I filed a compliant with the Alabama State Troopers who informed me these officers are not issued radar. They would not comment on their writing citations miles away from state property other than to say, " they are not state troopers".

Speeding Tickets

You deserve every speeding ticket you get. You can complain all you want after the fact, but it's true.
Find out why.

It's one of the "great" American past times: complaining about unfair speeding tickets. There are two types of people when it comes to complaining about this particular type of traffic ticket. Which group are you in?
