The CHP will be parked on the the east shoulder running radar in both directions. Vehicles round curves and are nailed before they can slow down.

Glenshire Drive

Truckee, CaliforniaOct 07, 20100 Comments

Glenshire Drive is about 5 miles long before you reach the Glenshire housing area.
Between Truckee and Glenshire housing the speed is posted 45 MPH, which is about 10 MPH too slow and an easy spot for the wonderful Truckee Police to nail most of the locals. It looks like a major money maker for the Town of Truckee. They patrol with radar regularly.
About 1/2 way there is a small housing area (Olympic Heights) just north of Glenshire drive. This is probably why the speed limit is so low.

HWY 267 1mile before Northstar at Northstar sign

Truckee, CaliforniaApr 16, 20100 Comments

Right next to the large "Northstar – 1 mile" sign there is a pull out which is an access rd. for the golf course. CHP parks there alot and also further past Northstar exit uphill about 1 1/2 miles. CHP catches folks coming down the grade and mainly pulls them over to check for DUI using speed as an excuse. This has happenned to two different friends. One was told by CHP that it’s all about the DUI’s.

A little beyond exit 190, called Overland Trail (they just changed the name of the exit in 2007), their is a weigh station, but at exit 190 they hide on the ramp that goes towards the City of Reno. They tend to sit there from 11a to 8p, most days of the week.
