SW 80th St. just before SW 70th Ave.   South Miami, Florida

A South Miami motorcycle cop (South Miami has only one motorcycle) will hide on the right side of 80th St., under a big tree, to catch people heading towards the highway, as well as Dadeland Mall. The speed limit is thirty and my radar detector didn't help me because he uses laser. This officer usually likes giving tickets at the intersection of Sunset and US1 during the morning and switches to this location (among others) some time around noon.

SW 62 Avenue and US1   South Miami, Florida

On occasion during morning rush hour, South Miami officers will be at the corner of 62 Avenue to ticket trapped vehicles that haven't crossed the oddly-shaped intersection before the light changes on Northbound US1. Be sure to wait for a spot on the other side of 62 Avenue before proceeding through.

SW 72 Street (Sunset Dr./SR876) between 62nd Ave. and US 1   South Miami, Florida

That stretch of SW 72 Street (also known as Sunset Dr. or State Road 986) has been remodeled and the speed limit drops from 40 to 20 mph even though this is a major, divided, arterial 4-lane road. The city of South Miami police enforces this unrealistic and inappropriate speed limit at all times of the day and night (when they are looking for DUI's) and the ultra-low speed limit provides a good excuse for traffic stops.

Speeding Tickets

You deserve every speeding ticket you get. You can complain all you want after the fact, but it's true.
Find out why.

It's one of the "great" American past times: complaining about unfair speeding tickets. There are two types of people when it comes to complaining about this particular type of traffic ticket. Which group are you in?
